Dan Walsh is a UK-based movement director and facilitator known for his clear, collaborative approach to physical storytelling across theatre, film, and television. Dan also is an associate lecturer at Performers College Birmingham Campus teaching Movement on the Acting for Stage and Screen BA.

With a background in contemporary dance and an MA in Movement: Directing and Teaching from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Dan brings a detailed understanding of actor movement, physical performance, and ensemble dynamics to every project. His work is rooted in Laban, somatic practices, and an ability to translate emotional and narrative beats into precise, embodied choices on stage or screen.

Dan has worked extensively at the Loft Theatre in Leamington Spa, contributing movement direction to a wide range of productions – from classical plays to contemporary dramas. He is skilled at working with both large ensembles and solo performers, supporting directors to realise bold, physically articulate performances that elevate the visual and emotional impact of a production.

Through the Birmingham Rep’s Foundry programme, Dan has developed a strong practice in collaborative creation, script-led work, and adapting movement for different production environments. He understands the practical needs of a rehearsal room, set, or shoot — offering clear, actor-friendly guidance that enhances performance without slowing down the process.

Dan is passionate about making movement accessible, story-driven, and purposeful. Whether crafting stylised sequences, building character through physicality, or supporting intimacy and physical coordination, he brings professionalism, flexibility, and care to every creative room.
